Archetype Arcadia is a visual novel that focuses around virtual reality and trying to survive the apocalypse caused by a mysterious plague where many of humanity has been killed by and its up to you to determine the fate of it.
Its also my first visual novel from water pheonix too and its the first time I've seen any of their games as far as i am aware get a physical release.
The story itself, was fairly interesting and certainly a unique take on the isekai genre.
Despite its bleak tone, there is some fanservicey comedy moments that are there mainly to keep things from really going to super bleak.
The interactivity is atypical of a visual novel dialogue choices and thats it and you have to be careful with which one you go for cause it can instantly lead into a bad ending even if its not obvious.
Characters have to be careful not to “red out” or in other words lose hp or else risk a bad ending.
Speaking of characters the game has quite an extensive list of them.
The characters personality wise are atypical of an apocalypse type of anime nothing really all that special.
Its also one of the most wordiest visual novels too i can remember playing with literally 1.6 million words from what i looked up it certainly has quite the vocabulary.
Its a fairly long game too.
The artstyle was pretty decent be it character or background design.
The music was generally fine too.
Overall it was an ok visual novel.
It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
