The Caligula Effect Overdose is a updated remake of the original game from the vita to home consoles. The game was devloped by Fuyru and Historia.
The story is about getting out of a simulation called Mobius and find out the mysteries as to why so many people are in there in the first place and how to get out. Unique in concept somewhat for a jrpg sure but not something uncommon elsewhere knowing how much normalfag slop like matrix exists.
The concept of the story is pretty unique as it focuses on escapism to the extreme and what happens when delusion starts to become reality.
Its a fairly long game too.
The combat is real time active based you use skills unlock more as you level up deal special attacks after its fully charged simple as that.

The characters themselves, they are basically like the kinds you can see in scott pilgrim or any r/aita type of sub(p)reddit in other words everyone sucks here. The more you learn about them the more ironically you just lose sympathy from them from hoe phases gone wrong, misandry and of course misogyny through sweet-p's Guy in real life story ironically too knowing how they are basically a fetihshist in female stereotype uwufeid clothing.
Also not really suprised one could compare Envy Addams to Mirrei in the game since both are obnoxious unwarranted self important divas who pretty much is the very definition of misery loves company.

Like they pretty much justify misandry on the past just to see why they pretty much hate men like damn talk bout a big fucking yikes if you ask me.
So everyone honestly was not only tropey as hell but pretty much unintentionally unsympathetic as hell too.
Lot of the dialogue choices just feel pretty superficial too atypical of so many fucking jrpgs I've been playing its just fucking stupid as fucking hell and ironically one of the biggest reasons why we are currently in another crash other than just the woke shit and ea type fuckery too these days by big companies. :/

You can bond with characters and unlock special abilties after a while.
The combat is easy enough for beginners to get through.
The spam attacks can be annoying especially when the shields come around too.
The backtracking filler and sidestepping was pretty annoying and was somewhat rectified at least in the sequel. The dungeons itself just felt so copy and pasted for alot of areas too it was just so boring to go through and not really that much enemy variety either.
The musicians route especially is just recycled dungeons and not any original unique ones.
Of course since NIS America published the game, the dialogue is really dogshit and even some internet slang here and there like this shit is so fucking annoying im honestly fucking glad the fucking president of the company of NIS is dead cause we wouldn’t be worse off without any of their piece of shit fuckups from localization to milking shit.
The art was good but the remade graphics for an unreal engine 4 based game I've seen older atlus games for older consoles look better than that.
There were some technical hiccups here and there to the point you can actually exploit them sometimes, to get through to other areas.
Lot of low textures too and washed out visuals from time to time.
The music of the game is pretty good.
There isnt any replay battle or autosave in the game lot of checkpoints and a ok fast travel system not specific like what say persona would have but it gets the job done ish.
Overall this is another case in a pile full of countless of them with interesting idea dogshit execution.
It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
Theres even an anime adaptation of all things for this game but i don’t really have any interest of it, especially since im more so focused on ranting bout soyciaty and humanity these days so adaptations of mid are bound to be on my crosshairs soon enough and also on that note to anyone thinking this series is an underated gem or a persona rip off its not and anyone who thinks so is an imbecile to believe otherwise so you’re better off buying seven pirates h or galgun instead of this honestly.
