Fairy Fencer F

Fairy Fencer F is a jrpg by Idea Factory.

It focuses on Fang and a group of Fairies who are out to save the world from evil.

The story is as average as average can really get copying alot of story notes from Final Fantasy 7 and painting it with a early to mid 2010s anime coating with it.

The lead character Fang you can say he is like the Hikigaya Hachiman of jrpgs with the way he carries himself and how he interacts with others but without the philosophical charm that Hachiman was widely known and loved for.

The voice acting itself is average thats bout it.

The dungeon designs look pretty low quality and apparently Idea Factory/Compile Heart does alot of asset flipping from alot of their games so that should explain why it is below subpar.

Also alot of dungeon revisiting over and over again just to do side quests to the point it just becomes excessive and boring.

The graphics and art were pretty decent.

The music was pretty decent too.

However there were some technical hiccups the game felt kind of slow to me at times.

Its incredibly grindy and it takes quite a while for it to really level up.

The combat is similar to Hyper Dimension Neptunia where you can move around, and attack enemies with turnbased combat.

Each Fairy you have grants you unique bonuses to utilize in combat.

There is quite a bit of replay value to the game with multiple endings based on your decisions.

The game has alot of micromanagment to it from where to level up which equipment to use and so on to the point the interface too not helping either just makes it more clunky.

The game does have an achievement system to increase stats where the more you do certain tasks, the more you get a stat increase to help you in combat.

I actually liked the dialogue in the game, lot of jokes in the game that really can’t be replicated so well easily today sadly.

Also quite a bit of various moments of fanservice here and there.

The game does have quite a bit of filler to it.

Overall it was an ok game.

It gets 3 out of 5 stars.

You have to be a hardcore idea factory fan to really enjoy this game.
