Hexyz Force
Hexyz Force is a PSP Jrpg by Sting Entertainment. The story takes place in a place called Berge. One god is trying to destroy it and another is trying to save Berge from annihilation. This god creates an a group of beings called Hexyz who can save Berge from the evil god. The game focuses on 2 groups of characters and their respective journeys and how it ties in together as a result of the conflict going on in the land.
The story and characters are average. The dialogue and voice acting was cringey but expected from and an ATLUS published game. The art is generally serviceable and the graphics are more than adequate. The anime cutscenes still hold up pretty well today.
The game is turned based where you can level up and use rp points to increase your stats on which move you would like to use in combat. You can speed up battles if you like though I noticed some technical hiccups with characters delaying their attacks occasionally. The game is fairly short and would be a lot shorter if it wasn’t for the amount of annoying filler and backtracking and vagueness on where to go from time to time.
here are numerous enemies with some reskins here and there atypical of JRPGs that aren’t necessarily high budget yet end up being very expensive as the years go by.
Many fights don’t require much strategizing, just save your rp points grind and that’s it. The fights are pretty easy and I never really died once during my playthrough of the game. There is a minimap which is not the best but still helpful to use to get around in dungeons. You can create new equipment and items to help you out in combat too. There’s a decent amount of extra content like earning titles in exchange for rewards to help you in battle; to viewing art and music.
Overall, it was an alright game.
It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
