Scarlet Nexus

Scarlet Nexus, is a video game developed by Bandai Namco and TOSE for the PS4 and Xbox1. The story takes place in the future where some humans were found to have a psionic hormone which granted them extra sensory abilities. Crazed beings attack humans looking to feast on their brains. These Other beings are immune to the current weapons available and humans with the psionic hormone are sought out by to defend the human race from the invaders. These psionics form the Other Suppression Force and it is up to them to defend humanity from the alien Others.

The game focuses on psychokinesis and its powers as its main concept which is pretty interesting. There is a dual main character route but at the end of the day it all just feels the same after a while. I liked the atmosphere of the game. You can upgrade abilities as you progress throughout the game though I noticed some abilities are really ones that should have been available throughout. You can get various members of your team to help you with their own unique abilities. You can bond with them by giving gifts in order to enhance their abilities. It takes a while to beat enemies considering how many of them are damage sponges.
The majority of side quests are merely just uninteresting fetch quests. The characters were generally alright. The music was good and the graphics and artstyle were more than adequate. The game had a good amount of filler and often repetitive boss fights and lot of the enemies were more or less the same types you fought over and over again too. The English dialogue is as cringey as you expect anything from Bandai Namco to be. The animated scenes by Sunrise was good.
The game is pretty easy enough for newcomers to JRPGs to get into.
Overall, it was a decent game.
It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
