Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance

Shin Megami Tensei V  Vengeance is the updated version of the original Shin Megami Tensei V that came out back in 2021 this time for a multi port version.

Like before it focuses on the Nahobino throughout the journey into a post apocalyptic tokyo and the decisions they make that can shape the fate of the world and theres 2 choices either the story of vengeance which i went with or the original story which i already did covered on my initial review of the game.

The story of vengeance focuses around the chaos side of things as well as a more in depth focus around the lore of smt v and alot more in depth character development too but the characters as is generic as they were before and the dialogue choices are obviously going to be superficial and meaningless as ever for the billion fucking time already ATLUS fucking stop with this chris chan p diddy weinstein  and epstein levels of perversion of control already.

Speaking of characters, no Nahobino isn’t part of a certain community its the same type of bullshit discourse that happens every few fucking weeks so no, i am not going to get it there so no no and no it never was and never will be any of that period fucking degenerates.

I did liked Yoko since she’s defiently pretty similar to Dadga with the vengeance and realistic look at things throughout the story.

But to be honest the sparse as ever story of vengeance isn’t really any all that different its always boils down to the same at the end of the day, attack and dethrone god with an esoteric twist considering the story themes and its funny i still remember initially when the game was announced ages ago how it focuses on societal fears of recent events  like growing old (thankfully not any of the social media bleeding discourse over the actually normal age gap relationships lol) and nuclear fusion yet its really just at the end of the day like i said attack and dethrone god with a estoeric twist with a shallow and bland cast that really is just boring as boring can really get as usual.

Its funny how this game favors law like the earlier games yet it feels more so like neutral as ever is really the true and only canon route to all of this fuckery that goes on in te story.

Now that mini rant aside gameplay wise its defiently a huge step up to the original story.

The localization too now that i looked it up online from the original to the Japanese sub for this game like i did before more so recently with persona 3 reload yeah, it really explains alot on why ATLUS games especially in my side of the hemisphere has the most fucking atrocious writing imaginable.

The technical stuff isn’t as much of an issue as it was before i can imagine the weird decision atlus has been doing lately not having ps4 games of all fucking things even though its still selling super well cause not everyone is interested or could be able to buy the ps5 so yeah i can imagine it runs even smoother there on those consoles.

But yeah it felt pretty smooth for the most part and the art and graphics were as good as before.

The music too is pretty good like before and so were the new tracks.

The combat like beforehand is turned based you still have your press turn and negotiation system its lot more easier this time around as well as the other parts of the overall combat and theres lot of fast forwarding here around too unlike the original if you really are in a hurry to get through with this game and its pretty accessible to newcomers to the series too.

Of course theres also lot more demons and skills to inherit and fuse this time around and gaining bonuses and special abilties depending on who or what you fuse with too like before.

Magutashi is back with new skills too same as before fill the meter and you can use a special abilty to turn the tide in combat.

The interface has its own improvements too and its ironically stuff thats now common place in any other game you can find yet oddly not in smt v when it initially did came out and the auto combat feature now has a split decision where you can either exploit weaknesses once you know them through skill or the usual physical attacks.

Dungeon wise yeah your more so exploring the open world collecting items and doing the same old repetitive side quests here and there too.

The dlc issue that atlus is on lately is as incredibly bad as ever with shit that was supposed to be the base game you have to fucking pay for it like holy fuck do tickets from diddy parties really cost that much that ATLUS is using sales money to pay for that instead of bringing back their older ips and finishing off the persona/smt series already cause its run its fucking course now like ff,kh,tales and the trails games these days they really just can’t help but behave themselves like lolcows like the rest of the other dei blackrock bridge infested lol suit copyrigt driven chris chan sized lolcow type companies these days lol oof.

You can carry over save data too from the original smt v and get alot of bonus items too.

The dungeons itself yeah its sparse as before and it can be a headache to get around them sometimes due to the amount of backtracking and sidestepping that happens.

Overall it was an alright game.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars.

ATLUS/SEGA really still cannot help themselves with being lolcows, and i really am glad not to be part of any of the fandoms they created and enabled an equally obnoxious as they are fanbase too as well as any other fandom there is out there and I'm just glad that I got this game used instead of funding the idiocracy that SEGA/ATLUS is doing these days.
