Shin Megami Tensei IV is the fourth mainline game within the mainline shin megami tensei games.
It focuses around Flynn and their journey to attack and dethrone god and of course the clash between the chaos and law sides too and simply put, the game places you on the neutral route since we all know by now how both sides in the series are total dogshit self righteous lolcows that all want control at the end of the day and manipulating others by using base desire a la heart attack grill just to give people what they want for their own self righteous delusions so neutral is the way to go.

Lot of the story takes notes from normie shit like star wars just to keep western sales going and also to make sure things keep being Japanese Tokatsu stuff.
The developers were saying they wanted to emulate the punk feeling but, honestly this just feels more so culture clash than it is that, i mean sure one can argue semantics and say obviously apocaylpse and the soul hacker games are pretty punk, but i wouldn’t go as far as call this game a punk game its defiently not something suda51 would make.
Atmosphere wise its defiently got that grimey feel to it.
The graphics and art is good.
Gameplay is straight forward its turned based the press turn system is back where critical and weakness exploitation means extra turns and vice versa.
The amount of demons in the game is about 400 which is about alot of demons for a 3ds game and smt game as a whole.
Its the first one in the series that introduces the strike enemies to get a head start against them too.
Unique to the game is the smirk status which are combat buffs that help you out on occasion whenever you utilize the press turn system.
Demon negotiation is a thing like before too and so is fusion too as usual per the smt games.
Can't really talk bout the online stuff as its long since closed down unless you got a hacked network or play through it locally.
The characters themselves, I've said this before and I'll keep on saying this till im a corpse, they are all as generic and boring as they can get the dialogue choices are as pervertedly hollow as a Diddy party period.
Walter himself is basically Diddy,Drake and Kendrick Lamar all in one person minus the pedo shit but still self righteous and obnoxious and annoying as the aforementioned people themselves and the beefs they get into like all other beefs in general. Flynn’s boring and bland as ever like the average smt character outside of Ringo in soul hackers 2.
Dungeon exploring is a hit or miss with backtracking and sidestepping being a thing sadly.
Its also challenging as hell too die 2 times and easy mode is avaible for a price in the lesser of 2 evils you pay macca than fucking dlc.
The 80s inspired synth music was really good my personal favorite track being reverse hills.
Overall it was a decent game.
It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
Apparently in other news, theres an entire demograph of brainrotted tourist lolcows, that literally advocate unironically for p3-p5 to be milked out as much as possible and literally will play nothing BUT that and that alone and will not play anything else for fear that it isn’t cult approved or because their consoomer buddies yet to migrate to another “Safe” popular tourist hangout to yet again ironically complain bout the series they are allegedly fans of cause some how its some sort of istaphobic problematic b.s even if it never was at all in the first place.
