Summon Night 6

Summon Night 6 is the sixth main entry in the series.

The games have been mainly Japanese exclusive for a long while now save for some spin offs on the portable Nintendo consoles this is one of the more recent entries into the series.

It was originally by flight plan but they long since went out of business and its mainly Fellesita their successor that does the games with other studios like media vision for instance.

The games are mainly standalone but here its apparently really just a crossover for the previous entries in the mainline series.

In a ironic way, basically you are in the new characters point of view meeting all these other previous characters you have no knowledge of unless you are willing to import a copy from Japan or download a fantranslation of the games.

It focuses around characters from across the series trying to stop a huge threat and restore their respective timelines too in the world of Fillujah and another notable thing is that the game takes the sky is falling in a literal sense with many objects mysteriously falling down from the sky as a result of the threat thats ever present in the story.

Its a turn based strategy game where you place the characters on the map choose which action they do and complete whatever objective is given to you.

Theres an auto turn feature which can move things along if you like and you can play through various other levels to grind through the game.

The graphics are average atypical of quite the amount of mid to low budget jrpgs released in the mid 2010s period.

The art style on the other hand was pleasant to look at.

The anime cutscenes by J.C staff was alright.

The game is about 25 chapters but its quite a breeze to go through once you have one particular character leveled up so high you can pretty much get through the game in a bout a couple of days or so.

The game has a bunch of mini events where the characters talk bout just about anything they can think about.

Theres night conversations where you can bond with your teammates throughout your playthrough.

The map designs are generally ok the enemy designs were often repeats more or less and the missions to were like that be it from misunderstandings just to pad the story along or fighting the same boss again.

The maps were more so on the small scale side of things and on occasion friendly fire is an unfortunate thing as a result of lack of maneuverability due to the mapsize at times.

The camera is fixed so you can’t really move in a 360 degree angle sadly.

You can take part in the occasional side story and theres some minigames like fishing to help you create food to help you in combat.

The user interface was alright too not the best but alright.

As you  level up you can choose which stat or skill to improve upon and you can also improve your equipment on a similar note and unlock more classes the more you grind with a certain character.

The characters themselves are as tropey as tropey can get and the voice acting is incredibly bad too along with the localization no surprise its from the same team who botched, the Lunar Silver Star Story and many other jrpgs of the 90s working designs/gajinworks.

The music was pretty good.

Overall the game was alright.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
