Tales Radiant Mythology

Tales Radiant Mythology is a portable spin off series of the mainline tales games crossing over many entries of the games released during the timeframe of the 2000s to the late 90s.

It was developed by Alfa System who you may remember from when they made Gunparade March and of course Elemental Gearbolt.

Its set in the world of Teresia and its up to you the player the newest member of the local guild to stop the threats and the evil behind it so its not really the most original or interesting story for that matter.

Occasionally dialogue choices come up but they never matter and speaking of characters all of them are beyond boring and bland while sure i like the art and graphics everything about tales characters i honestly just can’t like since they all just come off as tropey and boring to me.

The voice acting too its going to be bad, its from Bandai Namco of course its going to have some of the most bland run off the mil phoned in performances there is.

Gameplay style its like Phantasy Star Portable or the .Hack games utilizing the mmo styled single player format.

You can choose which class your character is in too and eventually even be able to upgrade to more powerful classes too.

The quests utilize searching for people/objects or killing a certain amount of enemies rinse and repeat.

Completing them means fame and money and its a grindy game atypical of a tales games so you’ll be doing quests and exploring areas for a while.

The more famous you get the more recruits and likely you are able to progress through the story.

The map system isn’t exactly the best and at times you’ll often be finding yourself backtracking here and there just to reach where you are really going.

You can customize and create your character and its not really that extensive in to comparison to lets say the monster hunter games.

Atypical of the tales games you learn artes and you can get them powerful the more you use them.

The player will also obtain Magic Map drops from random monsters during the course of the game. Magic Maps will open an "Ex" version of a specific dungeon and contain rare items and stronger enemies. Also, some quests trigger an event for the Radiant Quest which if completed will grant the player very powerful equipment for their specific class.

You can exchange gp for costumes and other items and the game has its good share of them.

The music is pretty decent I'd say.

Overall the game itself is just average thats really it.

It gets 3 out of 5 stars.

You really have to be a hardcore tales fan to enjoy this series.
